Ray-traced reflections quickly catch your eye in the skyscraper-filled city of Marvel’s New York as you swing along its many glass surfaces. On PS5 in 2023, Spider-Man 2 at least served as an impressive technical showcase for the hardware, and a blockbuster release in a relatively quiet release schedule. On PC in 2025, without those advantages and in a disappointingly shaky state, it’s much more difficult to recommend. The majority of the side activities wind up feeling both mechanically and narratively pointless. An electric bike race feels silly enough in a Spider-Man game, but when the stakes are just “I need someone to try out my electric bike”, it’s hard not to think Miles and Peter have more pressing stuff to be getting on with. Far too much of what you’re doing feels like padding from the early days of open world games—there’s more inspiration here from Crackdown than there is from GTA V.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available on Steam and the Epic Games Store! With the launch of the game, we’re excited to share more about the awesome new PC-enhanced features the team at Nixxes has been working on. Following the conclusions of their respective solo adventures they’re now a tight-knit crime-fighting duo, but both are predictably still struggling to juggle their superhero callings with their personal responsibilities. It’s hard not to feel, though, that Peter’s inability to hold down a job or progress his relationship with MJ feels a little higher stakes than Miles… procrastinating over his college application? NK88 was nominated for numerous end-of-year accolades, and won in six categories at the 27th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, including Action Game of the Year. The game sold over 2.5 million units in 24 hours and over five million in 11 days, becoming PlayStation’s fastest selling first-party title.

In its Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC blog post, for instance, Sony highlights, “new raytracing options with individual quality settings to finetune performance and fidelity across a broad range of hardware configurations”. There’s also talk of settings for raytraced interiors, shadows, and ambient occlusion – adding what Sony calls “an additional layer of believability with realistic shadows and increased depth to the game”. Insomniac Games has crafted something to take advantage of the mighty capabilities of PS5.

We introduced all-new abilities and traversal options such as Symbiote Surge and Web Wings, and we’ve also expanded Marvel’s New York with new boroughs and side missions to explore. We’re also delighted to announce that the Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack, our charity collab with non-profit Gameheads, will be available for PS5 players in October and PC on launch at no additional cost. As a sequel in a spectacular series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is both blessed and cursed. Its story of two Spider-Men is a great time and a Spidey fan’s dream to play through as comic book pages are brought to life, elegantly walking the tightrope between light humour and heavier themes. Meanwhile, Insomniac refines a successful formula of combat and web-swinging without revolutionising either in major ways, making them comfy and familiar with just enough new tweaks and abilities to elevate them to fun new heights.

After Peter purged the symbiote from his body and it bonded to Eddie, Venom possessed all of Spider-Man’s abilities, but with greater physical capacity. To make him even more deadly, Eddie became aware of Peter’s secret identity from the symbiote’s time bonded to Spider-Man, and he gained the ability to nullify Spider-Man’s heightened senses. Of all the enemies that Peter Parker and Miles Morales face in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, few are as terrifying and relentless as Venom. Powered by an extraterrestrial symbiote, the villain threatens all of Marvel’s New York over the course of the game and pushes the Spider-Men to the very limit.

Marvel University talks to leading experts to explore the realism behind the characters and storylines from the Marvel Universe. Rewards for completing these various activities vary, with some ranging from genuinely exciting story teases for what’s to come, to simply gaining some tech parts to upgrade your abilities with. The tasks are often so mundane and repetitive, however, that I did frequently question whether these small, congratulatory nuggets were worth the slog they too often turned out to be.

All Marvel’s Spider-man 2 Suits

Using it to tell a tragic tale of two friends, instead of the more standard Eddie Brock story. Insomniac easily could have simply reused the map from Spider-Man and Miles Morales. A mostly accurate recreation of New York City, with certain buildings missing and other ones added. Delilah was originally intended to debut in Across the Spider-Verse, however she ultimately never appears in the movie. Her presence in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 seems to be setting up her appearance in the third movie, Beyond the Spider-Verse.

The middle section of the game is filled with many similar side quests, which help the player take a break after very tense moments. Following this mission, one of the most enjoyable missions of the game occurs. You can change the abilities from the “Abilities” Menu at any time for Miles. The easiest option for Miles is to play  Mysteriums as they have lots of enemies.
